Feel the Love, Not the Camera

The Process

My goal as a Boston engagement photographer (and anniversary photographer and just-because-we-love-each-other photographer) is to capture images that will spark memories of this special time in your life, not memories of that time you didn’t know what to do with your hands. So I make it simple. Instead of a formal photo session, I tag along for date night. Or date afternoon. Or date early morning.

I ask my couples what they love to do together – whether that’s wine tasting, salsa dancing or Scrabble – and that shared activity becomes the session. No awkward hand-holding on the beach. Unless of course, that’s what you love to do.

The Experience

“Thank you so much Gina! We are just blown away by these photographs! They really capture us and we love every single one. We also want to thank you for being so so so great to work with. We had so much fun during our session and felt so relaxed with you. We both said it was such a nice day and are thrilled with the beautiful record of it. I know we’ll both be so glad to have a record of us hanging out in our favorite spots and doing our usual thing when we’re old and gray!”

Julia & Ben

“We are so fortunate to have Gina documenting our engagement session. Her documentary style of work is so beautiful and the moments and perspective she captured is very natural and distinctive. The most awesome thing about her is she is so responsive and she is such a pleasure to work with. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. We received so many compliments from our family and friends because of her beautiful work. We can’t recommend her enough and we are looking forward to working with her again.”

Janet & Daniel

“Our experience of being photographed by Gina was so much fun and we are so happy to have these beautiful photographs of the two of us. They so greatly show the love we share for each other and capture our fun nature with tree climbing, walking through the park, and lots of laughs. Gina so greatly captured some intimate moments and they will be something we cherish for a long time to come.”

The Collections

My engagement photography sessions are 45 minutes to 2 hours in length and provide some much-needed time during the wedding planning process to just have fun and be a couple. And because wedding planning already involves enough decisions, I make it easy for clients and don’t ask you to choose your favorite photos. Instead, I deliver you an entire collection of edited, hi-res, print-ready digital files.

For exact pricing or to book a session, shoot me a note and we’ll start the conversation.

Questions You May Have…

Though I’m sure we’ll cover lots of ground when we connect, here are a few answers to some questions you may have in the meantime.

I define documentary photography as an unstaged, hands-off approach that captures genuine, raw, and emotional moments as they naturally unfold. I focus on authentic storytelling and “in-between” moments, working discreetly to allow subjects to be themselves rather than directing or posing them.

How does your documentary photography background affect how you’ll photograph our engagement?

What will your goals be when photographing our engagement?

I have found that the most flattering photographs are the ones without any interference, performance or posing. By catching a genuine and emotional moment and using my experience and skills as a photographer, I am creating an artful image that highlights your beauty.

I completely understand and feel the same way when I’m on the other side of the camera. To put you at ease, I’ll share that my portfolio is made of individuals who felt the same way. I promise our time together will be comfortable and centered around your experience. I’ll help ensure you can forget about the camera, be present and not feel performative. When you don’t feel that you’re being photographed, you can’t hate it.

When do you step in while photographing?

Of course! I celebrate BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, neurodivergent and ALL individuals and couples from all cultures, beliefs and backgrounds. I am neurodivergent myself with a complex story that allows me to relate to others in a deep way. The human experience fascinates me and I’m very grateful that I can use my camera to show and record its complexity and beauty.

Absolutely! Though I’m based in Boston I regularly photograph throughout New England. I’m open to other regions/locations as well.

For session galleries, you can expect a turnaround time of 6 weeks or 8 weeks if you’d like a sneak peek 2 weeks after your session.

2021 Best of Boston Engagement Photography

I photograph engagements a little differently – even a lot differently. Instead of heading to a location purely for its beauty and going through a series of poses, I tag along with couples on a date night or date day.
